By Lisandra ParaguassuBRASILIA (Reuters) - Brazil plans to expand its railway network with a 40 billion reais ($8 billion) fund that will be financed by removing discounts given to rail companies by previous government contracts, Transport Minister Renan Filho told Reuters. The Federal Audit Court is now reviewing those extensions after the government of President Lula da Silva disputed the discounts. "We think that some procedures adopted in the contracts are unacceptable," Filho said in an interview on Friday. According to the government, the companies owe an additional 40 billion reais ($8.1 billion) in unpaid concession payments. The government's goal is to have 40% of Brazil's freight, which is mostly iron ore, transported by rail, up from 17% today.

It was the best of times, it was…the best of times. Deion Sanders and the ascendant Colorado Buffaloes were the talk of football—not just college football, but football, period. Were we watching a new dawn of quick-fix college football? Producers and editors buttonholed their staff: What are we doing today about the Coach Prime phenomenon? Jealous NFL chatterboxes asked: Which NFL teams should hire Sanders to win a Super Bowl?

Hunter led the Buffaloes with 13 catches for 140 yards and two touchdowns in his first game in nearly a month, and he collected five solo tackles on defense. Hunter celebrated his much-anticipated return to action with a 24-yard catch-and-run touchdown in the first quarter. When the Buffaloes started out on defense against Stanford (2-4, 1-3), Hunter received a big hug from his coach as he trotted out to play cornerback. When the Buffaloes forced a quick punt and got the ball for the first time, Hunter lined up wide right. Hunter returned to the game but later left to go to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with a lacerated liver.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Bo Nix threw three touchdown passes and No. 10 Oregon emphatically slammed the brakes on Coach Prime's “Cinderella story,” routing No. But the Ducks' defense sacked Shedeur Sanders on third down, pushing him back 16 years, and Colorado again was forced to punt. Colorado avoided the shutout with Shedeur Sanders' a 6-yard pass to Michael Harrison. Colorado had minus-33 rushing yards in the half — due in part by Oregon’s four sacks on Shedeur Sanders — and just 35 for the game.

CNN —After his team’s first victory earlier this month, University of Colorado football coach Deion Sanders said something remarkable. He has entered one of the Whitest and most conservative institutions in America — college football — and excelled. It’s no secret the league has had a poor record of hiring Black coaches.
